The FIEO certificate boosts a company’s credibility and opens doors to new markets. Professional Utilities supports businesses in obtaining FIEO registration, helping them leverage the benefits for smoother and expanded export operations.

What is FIEO Certification and Membership?

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is a key agency authorized to issue Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin, crucial for international trade. Recognized by India’s export promotion councils, FIEO provides registration cum membership certificates to its members.

To benefit from FIEO’s resources, eligible exporters must obtain a Registration Cum Membership Certificate (RCMC), which is essential for availing export benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

Types of FIEO Membership:

  1. Ordinary Membership: This entry-level membership is designed for small and new firms engaged in exports and imports. It provides essential support and services to help these businesses navigate the export landscape.
  2. Associate Membership: This is an advanced membership level, typically available to large exporters, importers, or longstanding members of the FIEO federation. It offers enhanced benefits and recognition within the export community.

Documents Required for FIEO RCMC Registration

  • Apply online.
  • Submit the following documents in hard copy:
    • IEC Code Certificate: Provides proof of authorization for international trade.
    • Letter of Authority: An official letter on the organization’s letterhead authorizing the representative to apply.
    • MSME/SSI/IEM Certificate: Proof of status as a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME), Small Scale Industry (SSI), or Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum (IEM).
    • Self-Certificate for Export Houses: Indicates the export house status (e.g., One Star, Two Star, etc.).

Once RCMC is Obtained, Apply for EPC Membership With:

  • Bank Statement: Recent statement from the business account.
  • Copy of MoA & AoA: For companies, these documents outline the business structure.
  • Partnership Deed: For partnership firms, the partnership deed is required.
  • Self-Attested IEC Certificate: A self-attested copy of the IEC certificate.
  • SSI/IEM/MSME Certificate: For manufacturer exporters.
  • Duly Filed RCMC Application: Completed application with business details.
  • Export/Import Declaration: Details of export and import activities from the previous financial year.

Procedure for FIEO Registration

  • 1. If an exporter needs an RCMC Certificate, they must list their main business line on the application they send to the relevant board or council.
  • 2. If no council, board, or official can get your main line product, RCMC has to get it from the FIEO Officials.
  • 3. Also, if an exporter has more than one item and isn’t on any EPC list and the main product hasn’t been settled yet, then the exporter needs to get RCMC from the Federation of Indian Exporters Organization.

Eligibility for FIEO RCMC Certificate

To be eligible for an FIEO RCMC (Registration Cum Membership Certificate), applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Importer/Exporter Status: Applicants must have an active import-export business in India and hold a valid Import Export Code (IEC) certificate issued by DGFT for their respective export activities.
  • Primary Line of Business Declaration: Applicants need to declare their main line of business. For example, if the primary business is in coffee, the applicant must have appropriate authorization from relevant boards. If the product is not covered by any specific board, FIEO will facilitate the necessary export promotion permissions.
  • Consent from FIEO Board: Applicants must obtain the necessary permissions from the appropriate FIEO board or officials. If there is no existing board for the product, FIEO will provide the required consent for export activities.
