All entities planning to carry out CSR projects are required to file this form on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) portal.

As per the notification from the MCA, starting April 1, 2021, CSR funding will only be granted to NGOs that have registered with the MCA by filing Form CSR-1.

This requirement follows the provisions of the 2019 Amendment to the Companies Act, 2013, which became effective on January 22. According to these new provisions, entities intending to undertake any CSR activities must register with the Central Government by filing Form CSR-1 electronically with the Registrar of Companies. However, CSR projects or programs approved before April 1, 2021, are not affected by these new rules.

Upon submission of Form CSR-1 on the MCA portal, the system automatically generates a unique CSR Registration Number. This process creates a comprehensive list of all implementing entities, enhancing the management and monitoring of CSR activities. Companies can review the past performance records of these registered entities, aiding them in making informed decisions for future CSR engagements. What Are the Documents Required for Filing eFrom CSR-1


  • To file eForm CSR-1, the following documents are required:
  • 12AB & 80G Registration Order Copy: Proof of registration under sections 12AB and 80G for tax exemptions.
  • PAN Card of the NGO: The Permanent Account Number card of the non-governmental organization.
  • Email ID and Mobile Number: Contact details of the NGO for communication purposes.
  • Digital Signature Certificate (DSC): The DSC of the chairperson and their PAN number.
  • Details of Members: Information about the members of the organization.
  • Registration Certificate: Required for a Section 8 Company to prove its legal status.
  • Trust Deed: For a registered trust, a copy of the trust deed is necessary.
  • Memorandum: For a registered society, a memorandum of association is required.
  • Signature Requirements:
    • Section 8 Company: Any one of the directors.
    • Registered Trust: Any one of the trustees.
    • Registered Society: The Chairperson or Secretary.
    • Entity under an Act: Authorized Signatory.
    • Practicing Professional: A Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, or Company Secretary in Practice must digitally sign the form.
